I left off last time talking about how Kanye took back all of his apologizes to Taylor because he felt that she was using what happened at the 2009 VMA’s to get publicity. On May 3, 2011, it seemed as though all was forgiven when at the Mets Costume Institute Gala the two exchanged a low five.
In June 2013 an article is released by the New York Times where Kanye states that he only apologized because of peer pressure. “I don’t have one regret,” he states talking about the VMA’s incident. How could he be so rude that he stated he has no regret? Taylor did not deserve to have him jump on that stage. It turned what should have been a great moment into a really sad moment.
Jump forward to 2015 when it looks like everything has been forgiven. Kanye and Taylor where hanging out back stage at the Grammy’s and were even having conversations about doing a collaboration whenever she switched from country to pop. Kanye tells Ryan Secrest “She wants to get in the studio and we’re definitely going to go in, I don’t have an elitism about music, I don’t discriminate.” At the VMA’s she presents Kanye with the Video Vanguard Award. That year Kanye stated he was going to run for President in 2020 and Taylor would be his VP. Even with Taylor as his vice president there is no way I would vote for West in that election.
I am going to leave off here and do a separate post about 2016. There is too much to talk about to put it in one post. The post would be super long. I also used Emma Dibdin’s Cosmopolitan article, “A timeline of Taylor Swift and Kanye West’s Feud” to reference this post.
